Out this weekend meeting with Alconbury Flood Group as we opened the new Alderman’s Retention Pond at Sallow’s Farm.
The pond is the 4th of 40 planned ponds and will take 1.6% of the excess floodwater from Alconbury Brook. Once all 40 have been completed this should account for c.50% of floodwater, with the remainder captured by a proposed dam.
This is the culmination of a fantastic effort from the Flood Group and from Charles Dalleywater in being the driving force behind it.
Conscious that I also didn’t actually get a picture of the pond itself, but you’ll be able to see that in my weekly update video!
