Hugely interesting to have the opportunity to visit Vantage in Great Staughton to discuss how advances in agricultural technology can have a positive impact on farming techniques, particularly as farms face manpower shortages, fewer resources and increasingly fewer available experienced farm workers.
Thank you to Will Mumford, Managing Director and a fifth-generation local farmer, for taking the time to talk me through some of the local challenges faced by farmers, and to highlight the opportunities presented by developments in agricultural technology. It was great to see a demonstration of the AGXEED AgBot 5.115T2 and how a remotely controlled robot tractor can change farming techniques, being more environmentally friendly and having a less detrimental effect on soil compaction due to its lighter weight owing to not needing a driver or cockpit. A very clever, very impressive piece of machinery and a type of vehicle not commonly seen at present but now in use right here in the constituency.
