Great to be able to visit RAF Alconbury this morning to meet with the RAF Commander for Alconbury and Molesworth, Squadron Leader Tina Sheeran and the Chair of the Community Engagement Committee RAF/USAF Sarah Conboy.
A hugely productive meeting and very informative in gaining a better understanding of current and future USVF operations. The USAF are technically one of the largest employers in the constituency with c.4,000 service personnel and contractors across the constituency’s two sites. Fantastic to see the support personnel are given within our local communities.
Also hugely important to gain a more detailed understanding of the development plans at RAF Molesworth which started a few weeks ago and will see a £219m project from the MOD’s Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) as part of the USAF European Infrastructure Consolidation. The four-year project should benefit the local economy.
My thanks to the RAF and the USAF for showing me the base today.
