This weekend I was able to visit Alconbury Following the flooding caused by Storm Henk for a briefing by Debbie Hose of the Alconbury Brook Flood Group. Even though the waters were receding by the time of my visit the brook had peaked at 7.5ft, higher than during Storm Babet last October. Speaking to local residents too there are serious concerns about the time it is taking for some of the planned measures to be approved.
There are a number of plans in place to mitigate further flooding. Crucial that National Highways fulfil their obligation to repair and reinforce the riverbanks under the A1 with new gabions, an issue that has now been under discussion for over 3 years.
