Great to be able to sit down with the Patient Participation Group at the Acorn Surgery this afternoon to better understand the work they do.
It was hugely valuable to listen to some of the challenges they face in the provision of primary health via General Practice, from the finding challenges presented by the current Carr-Hill formula that means the surgery doesn’t receive fair funding for the number of patients on its books through to the impact of the Employers’ National Insurance increase. But it was also fantastic to hear about the great work they do for the local community, the support they provide and their positive outlook for how the surgery is run.
My thanks to Dr Mary Simpson, Sonja Schwartz and all the team in the PPG for taking the time to go through this with me. It has given me a real insight into the challenges faced by different General Practices and I will be taking some questions away for the Health Secretary.
