Over the past few weekends I've been out speaking to residents in the areas potentially affected if Envar's appeal to build a new Medical Waste Incinerator at their Woodhurst site is approved. We've been out across St.Ives, Old Hurst, Pidley, Somersham, Bluntisham and Needingworth.
Not one resident I've spoken to has been in favour of the plan to build the incinerator which would see a 26m tall chimney blight the rural landscape as well as seeing the importation of 12,000 tonnes of healthcare waste from across the East of England.
Envar's appeal against the Planning Committee's decision will be heard on 20th February. It's vital that the right decision is reached.
