Out this lunchtime visiting the McDonalds franchise at Tower Park.
I took the opportunity to pitch my case for McDonalds to bring out a “Montagu” burger locally in honour of Lord Montagu, the Earl of Sandwich. They were generous enough to let me have a go at making one (*Insert your own joke here).
Hugely interesting to find out more about the franchise model and how the distribution of restaurants work. The branch employs 160 people and the wider franchise consists of 26 restaurants across the region, employing 3,500. Both this branch and the Brampton Hut restaurant are due for refurbishment over the next six months.
With the fries made locally in Whittlesey and local farms supplying beef and salad to McDonalds it’s surprising to see it’s a local business as well as a global brand.
Would you welcome a McDonalds in Huntingdon town centre or would you have concerns that that’s the wrong direction for the town to go in? I would be interested to hear your views in the comments below.
