This afternoon I met with the Chief Executive of North-West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, Hannah Coffey, following the confirmation earlier this month that Hinchingbrooke Hospital will be rebuilt outside of the New Hospital Programme after lobbying the Chancellor and the Health Secretary.
Very reassuring to see that the hospital now has its outline business case and is planned to be built by 2030, but important to understand some of the challenges, including space on the power grid. I will be asking the Health Secretary and Energy Secretary what they can do to ensure the prioritisation of such a vital NHS resource.
Thank you to Hannah and to CFO Joel Harrison for today’s site visit, for introducing me to the staff and for the opportunity to better understand where current challenges exist.
