I was hugely privileged today to be given the opportunity to officially open the new 3G pitch at Sawtry Village Academy.
The pitch is a fantastic new community resource that will serve local needs, providing a floodlit, all-weather alternative to Greenfields and helping to address capacity issues for Sawtry Colts and sports teams from across the area, as well as encouraging more local people to stay active, with the benefits that provides for physical and mental health.
Sawtry Village Academy, Meridian Trust, Huntingdonshire District Council, The Football Foundation and The Premier League combined together in a multi-stakeholder approach to fund the delivery of this initiative, a decade in the making.
Huge congratulations to all those involved for their hard work in getting this across the line.
