This afternoon I challenged the Veterans Minister on why Keir Starmer’s Conference pledge to “house all veterans in housing need” is actually just a minor tweak to local connection and residency tests.
Al Carns referenced the previous Conservative Government’s Op Fortitude, rather than Labour’s unfunded and incoherent new pledge, effectively offering no guarantees at all.
Today was the first time any questions on veterans have been spoken about at the Despatch Box. Very disappointing that the newly-promoted Minister is not on top of his brief.
